Your Go-Guide Contract is Due!
If you had any thought of committing to being in the Door County Go-Guide – we need to know right now. Before you read further, send an e-mail to Cathy Lynch right now at: cathy@doorcounty.com to save a spot in this vital vacation companion. Remember, signed contracts are due by December 10th but, you still have time to send in your artwork – just don’t put it off. If you need a fresh copy of the Go-Guide contract – simply print a new copy from our website: Go-Guide Contract
(http://www.doorcountychamber.org/Online-GG-Contract-2005.pdf)
Remember to print it out AFTER you e-mail Cathy to watch for it – then, complete it; sign it and FAX it to: (920)743-7873
Door County for the Holidays
Ann has created a New Year’s Eve Package page on www.DoorCounty.com (and we’ll take more) but, if I hear from enough of you that you would like to see the creation of a Holiday Page (like we did for Thanksgiving) to feature events leading up to Christmas and through to New Year’s Eve, we could do that too.
If your business is doing something special, promoting an event, throwing a party or, serving up a special feast, please let me know via e-mail.
Not only do I need the dates, times and places - I need a written descriptive paragraph (and the URL - if you one) that’s ready to cut and paste onto our website.
Send your Holiday features to Phil at: phil@doorcounty.com A.S.A.P.
Are YOU living in CHAOS?
Even the most organized business people fall prey to CHAOS (Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome) If your home has suffered under your administrative responsibilities, the “Fly Lady” might be your Fly in shining armor. I stumbled into her website after reading an entertaining article in a magazine about this modern day saint of household recovery. From Holiday Tips - to keep the CHAOS at bay – to bite sized assignments sent via e-mail throughout your day, the Fly Lady has the right attitude to help even the most overwhelmed “Sidetracked Home Executive”™ out of their despair. www.FlyLady.com

Support Your Fellow Members – aside from building a stronger community - without them, your dues would over $651,011 a year! (YIKES!)

Gifts that keep on Giving
If you haven’t taken full advantage of your available tax-deductible donations for 2004, you’re missing out in more ways than one. Not only are your contributions important to the continuation of our local non-profits, you might want to consider this: Most non-profit organizations have a list of items they need but, don’t have the funds to buy. By donating items from your “shelves”, you can maximize your write-offs without tapping into your cash. Additionally, if your business has wholesale access to an “item” on a Wish List, you get to claim the retail value on your taxes. Not only have you sincerely helped a local non-profit but, you might have dramatically increased your potential tax savings by purchasing the item at wholesale and being able to declare the retail value as a gift.
We’re makin’ a list… (so, you can check it out twice)
All non-profit members are encouraged to submit their “Wish List” to me via e-mail at: phil@doorcounty.com
Please note: I am NOT an accountant. If the above idea sounds interesting, you need to consult your tax professional or, at least consider attending our next Chamber Café - to be offered by CPAs: Ihlenfeld, Skatrud & Anderson of Sturgeon Bay this Wednesday at the Chamber office – 8:00am. We will be covering anything to do with year-end tax planning and more!
Chamber Café
The CPA's at Ihlenfeld, Skatrud & Anderson of Sturgeon Bay are offering a free seminar to discuss small business tax strategies as this year ends and the new year starts. Submit your questions in advance to make sure we cover your most important issues.

Past e-Reminders
I’ve been making the effort to add a copy of the e-Reminder to the website’s e-Reminder Archive when I send it out. So, if you’re having trouble opening your current issue or, you need to look up one of those fascinating facts, it’s there – at your fingertips: http://www.doorcountychamber.org/e-Reminder/e-Reminder.htm
Member’s website
From a sneak peek at the cover of the 2005 Vacation Planner to Posters and News – it’s worth your while to check it out regularly.
Okay, after spending all that time concentrating on business stuff (thank you, by the way) I’d like to change the subject to memories of sneaking scraps of sugar cookie dough while cutting out cookies; the tickle of hot chocolate glistening high under my nose; the clean smells that come with the hush of new fallen snow – so quiet, so peculiarly devoid of the smell of dirt or fallen leaves; loud snaps from a roaring fire; chilly peppermint; a periwinkle sky; the smell of cedar and, the swoosh of slush, displaced by your shoes.
Take time to notice the change of season - you may be forced to deal with the monotony of sub-tropic weather someday.
