What is the Door County Tourism Zone? Under Wisconsin law, two or more municipalities perceived by the traveling public as a single destination, may come together to form a Tourism Zone for the purpose of collecting a standardized room tax. In our area, this zone is called the Door County Tourism Zone or DCTZ.
The room tax collected within the DCTZ is restricted to promotional use only so, while the adoption of a room tax has substantially increased our ability to market Door County as a single destination, it does not cover the hard and fast costs associated with the benefits and services we offer our members.
Our standard dues schedule applies to all businesses outside of the DCTZ.
