2009 Fall Packages

Be part of the campaign!

Deadline extended to July 31st

Online Submission form linked from the end of this letter

Dear Lodging Member,

We continue to look for ways to re-invite, remind and provide incentives to our customers and potential visitors that the Door is always open and autumn is a great time to make a return visit. Many of you told us how pleased you were with the success of the Spring Festival of Blossoms promotion. The Door County Visitor Bureau is placing ads in August and September to feature “Kingdom So Delicious,” a culinary tour of Door County to include weekday activities and weekend festivals. A big part of our fall media message is the packages that will be created. This is your opportunity to promote your lodging facility on DoorCounty.com.

We are looking to feature special fall packages. Those packages should include, at a minimum, lodging for one or two nights (we suggest one of each), a meal for two (breakfast, lunch or dinner), and an amenity. It would fit nicely with the campaign if the amenity was culinary related such as a winery tour that is available all the time, or a food item made in Door County. Based on previous package success, we would encourage you to try and partner with an activity-based business for your package(s). Feel free to package more than one thing together, too. The above guidelines are package minimums, and if you’d like to include several activities along with lodging and a meal in your package, even better. You can also offer more than one package. A sample package is illustrated below.

We are asking you to offer these packages from September 9 to September 27, 2009. That’s almost three weeks and three weekends.

To Participate, please submit your package details no later than July 31st, 2009. Descriptions are limited to a maximum of 100 words, excluding your phone number, email and web site for each package. You should also submit a digital photo and your logo to be included with your package, or indicate that you want the same photo used in the Festival of Blossoms campaign. All photos, logos and package details should be e-mailed to cathy@doorcounty.com.

We will have a special Kingdom So Delicious icon and link on the home page directing web visitors to the special section where your packages would be included, along with a calendar of events. We will add a feature for fall that will  ist all our participating properties’ names at the top of the page.  This way the visitor can see all the properties before they begin to scroll down to see the package details.

We have a few new exciting value added items for you this fall.

  • We are waiving the $75 participation fee.
  • Each package must include at least one $25 Door County Gift Certificate but your cost will only be $15.00 for each certificate you issue. (Remember to work this cost into the price of your packages)  You will be invoiced for three (3) gift certificates and they will be mailed upon receipt of the $45payment. If you need more certificates you will need to bring a check to the DCVB Visitor Center and receive your additional certificates. Or, phone in a credit card order and we will mail your certificates the same day.
  • We are creating a Kingdom So Delicious Rack Card to feature things-to-do in the County during this three-week period.
  • On an optional basis - each participating lodging member is asked to donate one Gift Certificate that we can use to promote your business and fuel additional promotions throughout the year.  (Internet newsletters, radio & newspaper ads or our Fall Insert Sweepstakes). Each Certificate should be for two nights, redeemable within a year and with as few restrictions as possible (based on availability). Your business will be the featured property for that promotion.
  • Additionally, we are again creating a "Door is Open" invitation to our visitors with a Kingdom So Delicious e-postcard. To preserve the privacy of your customer list, we have asked Bay Lakes Information Systems, provider of InnLine, to facilitate these mailings on your behalf. (Click HERE to learn more about our e-Postcard Program).

Please call or e-mail me with any questions. We value our partnerships with you.

 Sincerely,

Submit your Festival of Blossoms packages and
take advantage of our Spring e-Postcard Promotion

We'd like to help you invite your previous guests back to Door County this year by promoting our Festival of Blossoms Packages to any of your customers who have visited Door County within the past two years and have given you permission to use their e-mail address.

You must submit at least one lodging package to participate in this promotion.  Deadline  extended to March 31st.

Once you have submitted your package(s), this is how our e-Postcard promotion will work:

Early April:
An inviting e-mail will be sent to each addressee to verify their permission to send additional information about Spring in Door County.

Mid - Late April:
A "DOOR is Open" themed e-Postcard will be sent to let them know that businesses are open, there are many things to do during the Festival of Blossoms, and that Festival of Blossoms packages are available.

Early May:
This second e-Postcard will be personalized to look like it is coming from YOUR property; with YOUR property's photo and a link to YOUR website with an invitation to visit during our Festival of Blossoms, and the upcoming Summer season.

We'll do all the work and your data will remain confidential:
Within the next week, you should expect a call from Baylakes Information Systems to get your permission to work with your data on your behalf.  Rest assured your data WILL NOT be shared.   We have asked Baylakes Information Systems to act as a third party coordinator who will prepare the addresses for eBrains, Inc. to deploy the e-Postcards on your behalf.   The Door County Visitor Bureau will not have access to these addresses.
